David wasn’t one bit afraid of Goliath. He knew his God all too well. In fact, when Israel’s army all hid behind rocks, the shepherd boy called to be king, put on ill-fitted armor, picked up a stone, and ran toward the enemy of God with full intent to take the Giant down.
When David picked up that stone, he was confident God had already given him the victory. We know this by the words he spoke to Goliath. David boldly declared, “I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty!”
David also knew that the victory would not be won by his own strength or strategy. He was confident of this one thing, God Himself would grant the victory and use him to fulfill His plan and purpose.
We need this same confidence in our God, so that we don’t hide when trouble comes. We have been given access to the Throne of Grace to boldly enter the presence of God in our time of need. We can go with boldness, confidence, and complete freedom. We don’t have to do this in private either; a public proclamation is well pleasing to God.
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears usin whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him” (1 John 5:14 & 15).
It was absolutely God’s will that Goliath be taken down. It is also His will that you be victorious in every adversity, a overcomer of all of life’s troubles. You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus.
