I like to compare surrender to freefalling, like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. Now mind you I would never literally do this, but I think of it often in comparison to surrendering everything and everyone, as I remind God my life is His to do with as He wills.
Don’t be afraid to “freefall” with God. He answers when we call, He catches when we fall, and He reveals every step at the right time and in the right way. Don’t resist these uncertain moments but take much joy in each one as part of the greatest adventure of your life. He has set you up for victory, given you all things that pertain to life and godliness2. You have all the powers of heaven backing you up.
Your Helper in this God journey, the Holy Spirit, leads, guides, and teaches you all things. As you follow His leading, you yield more and more to the Lord and the result is freedom. Paul declared this freedom to the Corinthians as He proclaimed, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty!” The Greek word for freedom is “eleutheros,” meaning; delivered, unbound, unshackled and set free.
As we yield our heart, mind and body to the Holy Spirit, His task is to transform us into the image of Christ. We are no longer conformed to the world but transformed by the renewing of our mind. The Scriptures reveal that our mind is renewed by exposure to, acceptance and application of the Word.
God’s Word is our blueprint for living. Dive head-long into His Word, read it over and over again, and walk it out daily. As you do, you conform your heart and mind to Him, surrendering more and more to His purpose. The end result is unwavering faith in God.
In the process, you are being equipped for your call and set at liberty to realize your destiny in Christ.
