How to be Wise & Stable in an Unstable World

I think we would all agree the world is becoming increasingly unstable. Even so, God has chosen each of us to be here at this time. We have a purpose and He has a plan. We must realize our part and be willing to step into His power and authority as we reflect Jesus Christ and a good, good Father to the world.

Christians should be the MOST wise and stable people in the earth today, yet many are tossed to and fro by false doctrine. Not surprised, it’s been foretold!

The Apostle Paul told Timothy, “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:3–5).

You are that evangelist, called to be immovable and unshakable no matter what is going on both in and out of the arenas of “religion” today. You are empowered by God’s grace to discharge all the duties of the royal priesthood (I’ll get into this on another post.). You can’t do it though if you are spiritually unstable.

Today, you can settle wisdom and stability in five very simple steps.

  • Know who YOU are
  • Know Whose you are
  • Know what you believe
  • Know WHY you believe it
  • Purpose your heart to be UNFLINCHING

Who are you? Say this, “I am a Christian!” Yes you are a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, a believer. He is not just your Savior but your LORD. Make Him your Lord today. Choose His ways alone, and refuse any other way.

Who do you belong to? Say this, “I belong to God.” You are a child of God. Don’t get crosswise with this. All are created by God, but only those who surrender their lives to Jesus Christ are the children of God, and only those will become the Sons of God.

What do YOU believe? Say this, “I believe every Word of God is true.” Don’t add to it or take away from it. Every jot and tittle of God’s Word is forever settled and will come to pass. Don’t mix man’s wisdom with God’s Word. Don’t dump a bunch of man’s traditions and beliefs into God’s holy Word. Settle this, if it can’t be found in the Holy Bible you won’t accept it as truth. This will require you to be a student of the Word of God. It’s okay, you have a great teacher; the Holy Spirit. Start reading and ask every day for the Holy Spirit to teach, lead, and guide you into all truth. He will that’s His purpose in your life.

Why do you believe? Testimony time! If you can’t remember why you first gave your heart to Jesus, you need to revisit your testimony. This is one of the things that will cause you to overcome the enemy every single time. Revelation 12:11 reveals this, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” When we forget what God has done in our life, why we recognized our need for salvation, we begin our descent on the slippery slope of compromise. Do a quick bible search of a phrase, “they forgot the Lord their God.” You will find it is the precursor to sin and destruction. Refresh your testimony and share it often. Never forget it again. It is the “Why” behind your faith in Jesus Christ.

Then be UNFLINCHING… don’t follow people, follow God. Fix your eyes on Jesus and the Word and don’t be moved.

The people of God who are wise and stable will be the witness to the world that God is the great I AM and that Jesus Christ is the King of Kings. They will see that the true Sons of God are not moved by storm, wind, war, or accusation. As instability continues to increase, their light will shine brighter and brighter. They will have the answer for every situation and many will desire the One who they reflect and testify of.

These people will be like Ruth was with Naomi. Your God will be their God, your people will be their people, and where you go they will go. Not for your glory, but God’s. It’s harvest time and high time for each of us to get spiritually prepared for the days ahead.

Settle these matters in your heart today and don’t ever flinch again. Wisdom and stability will be the STRENGTH of our time and the faithful believer will possess both.

I LOVE you… He loves you more!
