Why it matters… HeartLIFE

44719001 – road to love

I’ve taught on matters of the heart for more than a decade. Interestingly enough, God continually leads me back there. The condition of our heart matters and it matters greatly to our growth and success in fulfilling our purpose and maximizing the fruitfulness of our talents.

Peter wrote about the value of the “hidden person of the heart” (1 Peter 3). This “heart” is the physical heart, mind, spirit or inner self, character, will, intention. I’m BIG on living with intention. I want you to learn to live intentionally; with great purpose toward every thought and act. Frankly I would love for you to breathe with intention.

Let me digress here for a moment, with purpose, I promise!

There are great health benefits to the body when we breathe intentionally. Science has proven for centuries that deep intentional breathing calm the mind and heart, relieves stress, anxiety, and depression, increases vital oxygen levels in the body, and lowers blood pressure. I’m sharing this to make a point, scripture also teaches and trains us to live intentionally from the heart for maximum benefit, not only for spiritual benefit, but physical and mental benefit as well. It’s all right there in the Bible, every instruction we need, science has only served to prove God and His instruction true.

Now that’s exciting stuff, right?

So why does this “HeartLIFE” matter? First, the wisest man of all, King Solomon, wrote that life springs out of the heart. He encouraged us to diligently guard our heart (Proverb 4:23). In fact we are to guard and keep our heart ABOVE ALL ELSE. More than your possessions, your family, your job, etc. etc.

This language “above all else” tells us it is imperative to guard what we think, see, and hear. With great PURPOSE, we should put in our heart and mind and ears only what will further our spiritually growth and maximum health and wellness both physically and emotionally.

The best food and drink come from God’s Word. Period.

His Word is health to us, His water forever quenches our thirst. Jesus said this to the woman at the well (John 4). We need nothing else.

Oh yeah? Well we can have fun right?

Yes! Sure we can, but we should not expose ourselves to entertainment that causes fear, worry, lust, etc. Or, anything else that takes us away from God. I often think, would I be doing this if Jesus was with me. Well guess what He is always with me. Hopefully that revelation will give us pause when we want to expose ourselves to something that does not edify our heart and mind. There are many wholesome things we can do to enjoy life and laugh and make memories. We just have to choose them. Right? The power is in you to make that choice.

Choose. LIFE.

Okay so now let’s get to the point here. HeartLIFE matters because when you partner yourself with everything that comes from God you will be calm, cool and collective any time your heart comes under pressure. What’s the pressure? A couple of examples; loss of job or strife and contention in relationships. You can fill in all the other blanks here about what causes or is causing pressure in your life.

When pressure comes we have to choose to walk in peace, answer rightly, respond with joy. Proverbs 17 reveals that heart issues produce good or bad in our life. A joyful heart brings healing to the body, mind, will, and emotions. Joy is like medicine! But a heart that has been hurt often struggles with sickness and depression. There it is, science proved the word of God, the wise words of King Solomon are true.

Here’s the antidote to a wounded heart, praise and worship. Isaiah 61 gives instruction to the one who is oppressed, put on the garment of praise. Yes praise and worship lifts the spirit, gets the heart and mind centered and focused on the One, God, who will give joy for mourning.

I want to teach you how to live out of your heart, develop an understanding heart, and fulfill all of God’s purpose for you. To be successful in God’s purpose we have to clear our hearts and be filled with Him. The first step is take inventory of your heart; your thoughts, your emotions. Find the source of all that are hurting you or taking you away from God. Then begin “replacement surgery,” replace every thought with truth from the Bible. Do it over and over again until you are healed and made whole in that area. Be open and teachable toward the Lord.

Teachable hearts are broke open to God… made like clay in the Potter’s hand. He can take that open, pliable heart and shape it, and you, into exactly what He desires you to be. We are not wondering either what you will be; you are an overcomes, more than a conqueror. A member of the Royal Priesthood, a king, and an ambassador in this earth. I want you to KNOW this, BELIEVE it, and begin to live out this great purpose you are all called to.

Be wise! The condition of your heart matters, it matters for life both in the spirit and in the body, crack your’s open to God today.

I love you dearly… until we circle up again around His wisdom and truth. Godspeed and God bless.

  1. Heart is where God resides , what matters is to keep it clean and enlightened, serving the humanity is like creating the window in that heart, where the light enters
