I pay attention to my dreams, don’t you? If not you should. For those who follow Christ, dreams can be a way to lead us in the direction God desires us to go.
On the night of August 13, I had a dream I was in an airport going through security. I learned at my first checkpoint I would have to go through a second security check. Not normal for American airports. I asked why. The answer, “this is how it is in Istanbul.”
Istanbul? What is up with Istanbul?
As I sat with the Lord and asked the Father my questions, He said “The sacred ground is crying out for redemption and restoration.” Yes there is sacred ground in Istanbul and every other nation for that matter. In fact, the earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1). And the Prophets spoke of the mourning earth, Paul mentions it in Romans 8 too. The ground, the rocks, all of creation is crying out for release and relief from the sin and wickedness of the world.
So yes, Istanbul the sacred ground is crying out for relief and release from the false doctrines, idolatry, and wickedness that has saturated the soil for centuries now. And, the innocent blood of the martyrs from the Ottoman Empire genocide of the late 19th and early 20th centuries up to now still cries out along with the sacred places.
Today only 0.4% of the population is Christian in a nation that was the birthing place of the 1st Century churches; Ephesus, Sardis, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Laodicea, and Philadelphia. Once thriving even under the Byzantine Roman rule, now is not much more than a relic or repurposed location of mosques and Muslim education centers.
He has plans and His plans are redemption and restoration.
As I prayed with the Spirit regarding Istanbul, I was led to pray for the President of Turkey; Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At current an evangelical pastor, Andrew Brunson, is being held on house arrest for charges of plotting a coup against the President of Turkey. As I continued in prayer I heard “Let My people go.”
God’s greatest desire for the Turkish government and its citizens is salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. And, this is exactly how we are to pray for leaders around the world. Hearts, minds, ears open to the Spirit of the Lord who at God’s command is drawing leaders and whole nations to Christ.
I was reminded of how God troubled the heart of King Xerxes during the time of Haman’s plot to assassinate Esther’s Uncle Mordecai. The King was troubled to read the Book of Record about Mordecai’s part in uncovering a planned coup. Result, the King had Haman honor Mordecai for his deeds to protect the King. Isn’t that just like our God to use our enemy to bring honor and promotion to us.
My prayer for Istanbul;
Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. Let the places of old, the churches of great glory, the sacred ground be revived and restored. I declare and decree the Gospel of Christ will explode in Turkey. That President Erdogan himself will receive a powerful visitation from the LORD. and be used mightily to open the door to God’s people to fulfill the plans of God for His kingdom and His Christ. The Turkish church is rising and God’s people in Turkey are unifying in a powerful, glorious way. We will see it and rejoice together for the freedom and liberty Christ has brought to this amazing birthplace of His church.
And, quickly Father, we ask that the President Erdogan himself would call for the release of Pastor Brunson and any other persecuted saint in Turkey. In Jesus’ name! Amen!
Pay attention to your dreams. Make note. Sit with your Father to find out how to handle in prayer whatever has been revealed.
Remember, whatever you desire to see in the natural, must first be prayed out in the Spirit. Do not be slack in your prayer.
